Dr. Wendy Wilson Fall

Dr. Wendy Wilson Fall

Dr. Wendy Wilson Fall is a social anthropologist who has traveled widely throughout Africa, living as a resident for many years in Dakar, Senegal, where she was the Director of the West African Research Center. Currently, she is an Associate Professor at Kent State University with academic positions in the Department of Pan-African Studies, an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Anthropology, and Director of the Uumbaji Gallery.

Dr. Wilson-Fall is undertaking pioneering work in research concerning African-Americans who have ancestors from Madagascar. This research focuses primarily on families whose forebears arrived during the antebellum period (before the Civil War) in Virginia and Maryland.

Dr. Wilson-Fall's other research interests include pastoralism, nomadic and semi-nomadic livestock herders in Africa, and natural resource management.
