Getting Started at KSU

Kent State University makes it easy for a potential applicant to remotely view the campus and its various facilities from the convenience of their home or school. If you have access a computer and the Internet, you can take a virtual tour of Oscar Ritchie Hall, a front campus building, and the homebase of the Department of Pan-African Studies, which also houses the Pan-African Cultural Center, making Kent State one of the few universities in the country to house both entities in one building.

To take the tour, you may require a browser plug-in, such as QuickTime, which you can download, if necessary, at this link. Otherwise, click here to take your virtual tour of the Uumbaji Gallery. Other campus venues are listed in the navigation panel. However, the best way to get a sense of our community is through a campus visit. And, we invite you to do so. You can schedule a visit any weekday at 10:30 a.m. or 2:00 p.m. and most Saturday mornings at 10:00 a.m. To get an even closer look at life at Kent State, attend one of our Academic Discovery Days. You can make a reservation online for a campus tour or an Academic Discovery Day program at www.admissions.kent.edu or call the Admissions Office at 800-988-KENT.

Once you've made arrangements with the Admissions Office to visit KSU, call the Department of Pan-African Studies and let our staff know the date and time of your visit. We will make arrangements for you to meet with students and faculty in your academic area of interest, and give you a tour of Oscar Ritchie Hall. Our staff will inform you also of any events that are planned on the day of your visit.

After you receive admission to Kent State, you will attend the Placement, Advising, and Scheduling System and the Multicultural Advising Program, a day-long orientation during which you will take placement exams and meet with an academic adviser, register for Fall Semester classes and receive your Kent State ID card. Invitations for this program will be mailed automatically to admitted students.
