Criteria for International Awards


Academic Award to International Students with 4.00 GPA

Each year the international graduate and undergraduate students who maintain a 4.00 GPA are presented with a certificate.

Unit, Department or School International Education Award
This award is presented to a unit, school, department or center which has demonstrated innovative and exemplary achievements in international exchanges and education.  The award is viewed as the recognition of collective efforts.

The Giovanna Jackson Faculty Award for International Culture
The recipient is an individual, faculty member, or administrator, recognized for building a body of international studies or cultural exchanges which enrich our campus and our community.

Staff Award for International Culture
The recipient is an individual staff member recognized for work that builds international education at Kent State University for either domestic students or international students and/or for outstanding leadership, and support of the development and activities of Beta Zeta Chapter of Phi Beta Delta.

Graduate Student Award for International Involvement
This award recognizes a graduate student who has demonstrated outstanding scholarship and dedication to international education and understanding in his/her field.  This award is open to all graduate students.

Undergraduate Student Award for International Involvement
This award recognizes an undergraduate student who has demonstrated outstanding scholarship and dedication to international education and understanding in his/her field.  This award is open to all undergraduate students.

The Provost's International Scholar Award
This award is open to international scholars ("J" visa holders) who come to Kent State University not to seek a degree, but to expand and refine their knowledge, experience and skills.  These are not students in the ordinary sense of the word, but persons who have very specific research projects and are subject to special restrictions by their respective governments or sponsors.  Provost International Scholars are recognized for their work in research, publication, teaching, performance, or exhibit.  The purpose of this award is to recognize outstanding international scholars who develop and/or share their expertise while at Kent State University and who contribute with their endeavors to the pursuit of excellence.
