john updegraff, ph.d.

Welcome to the Self, Health and Emotion Lab in the Department of Psychology at Kent State University.

Our lab conducts psychological research that focuses on the cognitive and emotional processes that underlie health behavior change, well-being, and adaptation to stress.

We conduct both basic and applied research, using a variety of research methods including experimental, survey, experience sampling methods.

Our broad goal is to develop and refine theoretical models that help understand individual differences in health behavior and well-being.

Note: If you are a prospective graduate student or undergraduate research assistant, be sure to check out the "Join the Lab" link for more information about applying.
