E. Thomas Dowd, Ph.D.

Education: Ph.D., University of Minnesota (1971)

Research Interests

I am interested in the application of cognitive-behavioral/developmental therapy to a wide variety of psychological disorders with adults. I am interested in hypnosis and hypnotherapy and its integration into CBT. I am interested in the effect of individual differences in psychological reactance on the therapy process and outcome. I am currently investigating memory processes and tacit knowledge structures (including tacit cultural assumptions) in psychological functioning and malfunctioning. More recently I have examined the juxtaposition of religion and psychotherapy, especially the thinking processes of people of different religious belief structures. View Dr. Dowd's vita.
