The Department of Sociology at the University of Colorado Denver is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Department Chair. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Sociology or a closely related discipline and should be eligible for appointment with tenure at the rank of Associate or Full Professor at CU Denver. Tenure-Track Position in Medical Sociology
Oregon Institute of Technology is conducting a search for a full-time, tenure track position in Medical Sociology at the Assistant or early-career Associate Professor level. The position will start September 2012. Primary responsibilities will be teaching undergraduate courses in our general education program, leading the immediate development of a Minor in medical sociology, and the longer-term development of a health-related sociology bachelor’s degree program.
Qualified applicants will have a Ph.D. in Medical sociology or related field from an accredited college or university. ABD candidates will be considered provided all work for the doctorate will be completed by August 2012.
OIT’s primary mission is teaching and our degree programs have a strong practical emphasis. Candidates must be able to teach large lecture classes, as well as smaller classes with a hands-on emphasis. The teaching load is normally four class sections per quarter. Demonstrated ability to teach introductory sociology, as well as upper division undergraduate courses in that field, is required. Ability to teach sociological theory, qualitative methods, and the impact of class, ethnicity and gender on health, as well as a background in Science and Technology Studies, is strongly preferred. Successful candidates will be expected to maintain professional development activities and provide service to the university and community.
OIT offers competitive salaries and an excellent benefits package. Salary is commensurate with experience. Typical appointments are for nine months (September 16 through June 15). Summer teaching opportunities are available.

invites applications for a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in Quantitative
Medical Sociology to begin in August 2012.
The successful candidate will be responsible for effective teaching, research, service, and advising. Specific responsibilities will include teaching a required junior-level quantitative methods course for Sociology majors, as well as teaching introductory Epidemiology, US Public Health and Social Policy, Global Public Health and/or other courses designed to support the sociology major and an interdisciplinary minor in public health. The typical teaching load is three courses per semester, along with advising and other forms of service.
Applicants must have an earned Ph.D. in Sociology; ABD candidates must have completed the PhD by the time the appointment begins. All candidates must demonstrate development of and plans for a research program that integrates their teaching and scholarly interests.
Preferred qualifications include an excellent teaching record; an interest in policy and/or applied, community-based research; a promising publication record; and a record or demonstrable interest in engaging undergraduate research.

The Department of Health Policy and Management (HPM) at the Fay W. Boozman College of Public Health, University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS), invites applications for 2 tenure-track positions at the Assistant or Associate Professor level that will contribute to the department’s research and educational programs involving the organization, financing, and delivery of health services. The department seeks candidates who have strong research expertise and interest in developing their careers as funded health services research investigators. Candidates should also be qualified to teach graduate-level courses in health policy and health services administration. Expertise in health care finance and/or economics is desirable for one of these positions. Expertise in health care management, organizational sociology, and/or organizational behavior is desirable for the other position.
Applicants should have a doctoral degree in a relevant social, health, or management science. A strong record of research publications with either a record of extramural funding, or evidence of the ability to develop such a record, is also required. Experience in teaching at the graduate level and engaging in research translation and public service is also highly desirable. The candidate will become part of a multidisciplinary department that offers accredited MPH, MHSA, and PhD degree programs and supports a college-wide DrPH degree in public health leadership. The department has a rapidly growing portfolio of research that includes studies in health economics, health disparities, rural health, mental health and substance abuse, public health delivery systems, long-term care and quality improvement.
The College of Public Health was created in 2001 with a portion of the state’s tobacco settlement funds and a public mandate to conduct education and research supporting health improvement.
