Bryan G. Cook received his Ph.D. in special education
from the University of California at Santa Barbara. He has
been at Kent State University since 1996 and is currently an
Associate Professor specializing in the area of mild and
moderate disabilities. His research interests are focused on
issues surrounding special education policy—particularly
regarding the implementation of inclusion policies. Dr. Cook
frequently teaches courses in assessment in special
education, issues in special education, and a doctoral
course regarding policy in special education. He currently
is director or co-director on two federally funded grants: a
research grant investigating teachers’ attitudes toward
their included students with disabilities and a model
demonstration grant focused on transition for adolescents
with mild disabilities. Dr. Cook’s recent publications
have appeared in journals such as Journal of Special
Education, Exceptional Children, Remedial and
Special Education, Special Services in the Schools,
and Teacher Education and Special Education. He is
also co-author of a textbook on research in special
education.
