Mortar Board, Inc. is a national organization with more than 200 chapters and over 200,000 members. Founded in 1918, it was the nation's first national honor society for women. In 1975, membership was extended to include men. While emphasizing ethics and integrity in leadership and academics, Mortar Board is known for its outreach in volunteer and philanthropic services to their local campuses, for the respect it engenders within instructions of higher education, and for its national and regional visibility. Mortar Board is is well known for their outstanding, cost-effective programs and serving their local and global community. These efforts embody the core values of Mortar Board.
