Proposal Submission to the Graduate Research Symposium

The Kent State University English Department and the Association of Graduate English Students (AGES) invites graduate students from all degree programs (M.A., M.F.A, or Ph.D.) and all areas of specialization (Creative Writing, Literature, Rhetoric & Composition, TESL) to submit current projects, research, and works-in-progress for the semi-annual Graduate Research Symposium. The Symposium provides graduate students in the department an opportunity to present work relevant to (but not limited to) to course projects, thesis or dissertation research, and/or creative writing and to foster cross-disciplinary connections through graduate student work. Students who propose and are chosen to present at the Symposium can structure presentations however they see fit within an approximately 15 minute presentation, and students may choose to co-present with student colleagues.

This semester, the Graduate Research Symposium will take place on Monday, November 9, 2009 from 12:30pm—2:30pm in the English Graduate Student Lounge (209 Satterfield Hall).

To be considered for the Symposium, students should complete the submission form below, which includes a brief (250 word maximum) presentation abstract and description of the project (for inclusion in the Symposium program). Proposals should be submitted no later than Friday, October 9, 2009, electronically (as a MS Word document), to the Association of Graduate English Students email address: ksuages@gmail.com.

Review of proposals will begin October 9, 2009, and students will be notified of the status of their submission no later than Monday, October 12, 2009.

Should you require further information about the Graduate Research Symposium, contact Nikki Caswell, AGES President, at ncaswell@kent.edu.
