MISC.

At the beginning of Fall and Spring school semesters, we hold several informational meetings which are specifically designed to introduce potential members to AYL and answer general questions. If you are interested in joining, please contact any member--it may or may not be too late to pledge.

If you do miss the informational meetings, don't assume that it's too late. Contact the Associate Member Educator as soon as possible.

AYL uses the pledging period to acquaint both Associate Members (AM) and members with each other. During their pledge term, AM's learn what it's like to be a member, since we ask AM's to do basically the same thing that members do.

As an AM, you will be asked to:

- Participate in at least one service project
- Attend several member sponsored/hosted events
- Attend all AM meetings and pre-designated special meetings
- Host or co-sponsor a pledge line dance.
- Become familiar with the fraternities history and organizational structure.

We do not haze since the point of the pledge period is to introduce the AM to all aspects of the chapter, and to ensure that all the members get a chance to meet each AM. If you are a Kent State University student who is interested in becoming a member of AYL at the Kappa Chapter, contact the Associate Member Educator or any of the listed officers.

Alcohol and Pledging
AYL is a dry fraternity. AM's are strongly discouraged from drinking alcohol at AYL sponsored events. Alcohol is never a part of any AM event and is absolutely forbidden at any event which is an AM requirement. Actives are also discouraged from excessive drinking.
