March 29-April 4:
National Week of Labor Action

CHANGE will be holding our fourth annual Week of Labor Action this year. Events center around Wed. March 31st with a rally at 11:00 AM in the Student Center Plaza and an evening with legendary civil rights, anti-war, and labor activist Staughton Lynd of the Youngstown Workers Solidarity Club. There will also be events throughout the week, including workshops on fair trade coffee and movies about the labor movement and last fall's protest against the FTAA in Miami.

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

The Week of Labor Action usually centers around April 4. This is not the case this year because April 4 falls on a Sunday. April 4, 2004, is the 36th Anniversary of the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The day of action will bring students from coast to coast together with labor, community, and faith-based organizations to fight for workers' rights and economic justice in the spirit of the Memphis sanitation workers' struggle in 1968. We are also honoring the March 31st birthday of Cesar Chavez, a labor organizer who led the most sucessful farm workers movement in history.

If you or your organization support basic human rights, then you have a reason to fight for justice in the workplace. Join us in building a coalition and make the Labor Week of Action a successful day that will make a difference!

If you or your organization are interested in contributing in any way (providing speakers, endorsing/co-sponsoring, organizing, promoting, financial help, having an information table at our rally, etc.), please get in touch with us ASAP.
