Karen Watson resigned from AFSCME presidency. She is now vice president. Mike Meilander is now president.
There is a pamphlet about the church of the sub-genius in the office if you want to look at it. why? i dunno.
Special living wage meeting on Tuesday at 7:00 PM (look by elevator for room number--it will be listed as KSU Greens). This is to plan an ACTION for the weekend of March 9-10. It's important to come to this meeting if you possibly can.
April 20-21 is a weekend of national protests in DC. IMF/World Bank and other economic justice issues are on the 21st. "War on Terrorism", SOA, Columbia, and other millitary issues are on the 20th. This should be pretty major and I hope lots of CHANGErs plan on going.

STAND, activist group at University of Akron, is very close to getting a code established for the its university.
Meeting Time
Mike is responsible for room schedule changes. He will check to see if we can schedule the room every 3rd Thursday at 7:00pm for Living wage meetings. Mike will send out an event alert.
Megan will bottom line making phone calls to CHANGE supporters to inform them of the time change. Mike and Julie G. said they would be willing to make the calls. Email Megan if you would be willing to make phone calls as well.
New Era
Pat is willing to find out more about the New Era violations. He will post his findings on the listserv. Mike is going to talk to other university activists about how they are approaching the New Era campaign.
Rachel, a member of the living wage coalition, has stated that her father is a New Era worker and has been on strike. CHANGE is intersted in having her father speak about his experiences.
Mike is going to create a press release to be sent out to the Stater, TV2, WKSU. He will bring it to the next meeting for group approval. Dave will ask Rachel if her father would be willing to to be interviewed for a news report. Dave is also willing to be interviewed.
April 4th
Ian Heissey and Nicole Poston would like to know if they are going to be speaking during the week of action soon.
Julie G. is willing to make a flyer for April 4th.
Julie L. gave us the low-down on what needs to be happening for April 4th to occur: Need to start scheduling, need to talk to liason, schedule speakers, benefit party, rally, and set bottom liners for each of these.

New Era
April 4th Student Labor Days of Actions
On March 1, Fri. at 12:00pm the first review committee met. Pat and Megan are CHANGE affiliates on the committee. Pat brought up the issues of investigating the relationship between Liscensing Resource Group (outsource liscensee company)and the university, Equal Exchange clothing and implementation, New Era (see below), and the role of the committee in monitoring the monitor at the initial meeting. Megan brought up living wage, environmental standards definition, university athletics, and university uniforms.
8:00pm is the new meeting time for CHANGE meetings. This will go into effect for next week's meeting, March 7.
New Era is a cap manufacturing company currently under investigation by the WRC (worker's rights consortium) for violating workers' rights. The factory is located in upstate New York. The unionized (Cap Workers of America) workers have been on strike for 6 months. A priliminary report by the WRC has been made available. 3 universities have suspended their contract on acount of the report. Other universities are under pressure to do the same. KSU has a contract with New Era? This report can be seen at www.workersrights.org.
A new allocation form must be filled out because the last one was misplaced. Dave is going to check to see if Office of Campus Life has any records of the allocated money and the details pertaining to that. Dave is going to up the number of chairs for Hoard Zinn from 400 to 800 or 1000.
--Dave will be responsible for scheduling speakers, keeping in contact with them, and keeping them updated on our plans. Dave is working on Hoard Zinn logistics as well. If you would like to help with scheduling speakers talk to Dave.
--Julie G. will get in touch with the Late Night contact, Liz Douglas, to make plans for the benefit party. Late Night Christian Fellowship planned the CHANGE benefit last year and is a co-sponser this year. If you would like to help out with the benefit party speak to Julie G.
--Mike will be responsible for organizing speakers for the rally on April 4th.
If you would like to help Mike with the rally or speak at the rally talk to Mike.
--The BM bottom liner is responsible for everyone who is working on the week of actions. This person will make sure people are following through with their tasks. This person will be responsible for scheduling rooms, rain dates, getting the banner hung, talk to the liason, and much, much more. This person can get help, but must know what is going on. This person also needs to be accessable during spring break. Julie L. (last year's A4 Big Momma bottom-liner) will teach you. If you are really keen about being the Big Momma bottom liner please let someone in CHANGE know.
