AGENDA
I. Library Coffee Shop
II. Mexican Workers Tour
III. Pow Wow
IV. April 4th

I. Library Coffee Shop
We want tp work to get fair trade coffee in the soon-to-be-built library coffee shop on campus. Maybe we could get Equal Exchange to do it, as they're already working w/ us about the clothes, & they're probably the cheapest. Julie knows the distributor in Kent for Equal Exchange (maybe talk w/ them?).

Pat Coy sent the school a letter, no word....

Some ideas were:
-to maybe offer Fair Trade coffee as an alternative to "bad coffee" for a little bit more money?
-demanding shade-grown will probably not work--expensive (maybe use shade-grown to bargain w/ coffee people)
-encouraging the new coffee shop will be easier than trying to convert all the campus coffee
-because they are not yet established--fair trade coffee here could set a precedent on campus....
-before we start anything we need to find out what they're planning to do & then go from there
-soooo we're gonna look into this further and research & get back on it next meeting

II. Mexican Workers
-USAS tour with Authentic Union in Mexico talking about unions and union orgainzing in Mexico. The tour will probably come on April 14 during the day.
-Megan thinks our co-sponsors in Int'l Students in Education should be incorporated into the planning from the beginning (not just used for promotion :( ).
-Lenore Palladio wants us to definitely do this but she hasn't gotten back to us yet. We need to talk to her before we make any plans.

III. Pow Wow
-Julie is getting in touch w/ the Native American students to find out more.

IV. APRIL 4!!
April 3
-Julie G will make a special flyer for April 3.
-videos--11-2pm in KSC
--Trading Democracy will be free. Life and Debt is being borrowed from STAND at U of Akron. Jaidra is going to go get videos, as well as get things reserved.
-workshops
-- Nicole Poston-"Faith & Justice" (change that to whatever the new name is going to be), from 4-5pm. It is promised to be all-inclusive.
--Tim & Patti-living wage workshop--7-8pm. It is promised to be all inclusive.
Both workshops will be held in the same room. Jaidra's reserving the rooms.

April 4
-rally--set up right before 11 when rally starts
There will be 20 tables for student groups.
Speakers: Tim Neumann on living wage; Rick Hocks on community development; Craig Coleridge on AFSC; Casey as a back-up speaker; Merle the poet?? (he'll definitely be there for Zinn); Ken Calkins, president of AAUP; Dave Friedle on corporate subsidies leading to deforestation.
(Jaidra & Mike will call the speakers)
There will possibly be a drum circle (Matt Donowick is organizing it).

Book signing
Tim will contact Zinn to see if he is willing to do a book-signing.
Casey talked to the bookstore guy who said groups usually order books on consignment (this will be done w/ Mike's credit card....)
Books will be ordered whether or not Zinn agrees to a book signing.
We get 15% off on book orders. We will give 10% off to purchasers & keep the 5%.
The books that will be sold: 9-11, People's History of the United States, Zinn Reader, You Can't be Neutral on a Moving Train (Casey will take care of ordering these).

Zinn event
Jaidra booked the airline tickets & hotel.
Tim will be picking Zinn up from the airport.
Casey's doing the sound at the Zinn event. All of the equipment has to be KSC equipment.
No ad copy has been made yet. If it doesn't come in Casey will make up some. We want ads in the Free Times definitely, maybe in the Scene. Beacon Journal changed their quote price so Jaidra is going to haggle about that. Jaidra is also calling the Stater about ads. People will call all other newspapers & have it put int heir calendar section; also send out press releases to different outlets (Jaidra's writing it & Casey's posting it). WKSU will do free spots if we give them copy.
There will be no tabling @ Zinn--wasn't very useful @ Spitfire....

David Rovics is driving in. Mike will talk to him and bottom line everything w/ Rovics.

April 5
Benefit Party!!

Next Week's Agenda...?

**Reminder: there should be a new bottomliner for the month of April**
