-Spitfire tour is coming to Kent Tuesday Oct. 30th

-The IMF will be holding its annual meeting (postponed due to September 11) in Ottowa Nov. 16-18

-Sheets Gas Station is attempting to move into Kent and destroy a chunk of the downtown area. (This could be an issue for CHANGE to look into)

-the Kent clerical workers are unionizing and would like CHANGE to table for them to get their message out. (We need more info before we can do this.)

-Laura Vild is organizing an SOA benefit concert at Brady's Cafe for those who have been arrested while protesting SOA

Agenda

-SOA--the group heading to GA to protest will be leaving Nov. 15th around 6pm. It will cost $100 each to go, and a $50 scholarship is being offered for all participants if registration is completed soon. There will be a video Wed. providing info about SOA.

-AFSCME--CHANGE representatives attended AFSCME's meeting in Kent and provided the union with information about Sodexho and our plans to get them booted off campus, and we asked them for the union's support on the issue.

-S&M--

Stephanie & Julie S&M will be distributing fliers in the Student Center plaza tomorrow (Friday). It was suggested that we start an anti-Sodexho petition on campus, but it was decided that it's too soon for anything like that; first we need to get the word out on Sodexho.

-Homecoming--

People are needed to participate in CHANGE's float entry in the homecoming parade. The parade meets at 8:30 in front of Music&Speech. Dave B. will be providing the float with Chinese instruments.

-Julie's speech--Julie G. will be speaking on behalf of CHANGE at Center for Applied Conflict Management's panel discussion regarding the war in Afghanistan on Oct. 22. She'll talk about the injustices that provoke this kind of terrorism, such as particulars in US foreign policy.

-Code of Conduct--100% cotton material will be sent to the factory in Wohakka (sp?) Mexico. We've done our part here, and the ball is now in the factory owner's court. Once the contract with the factory is set up, licensees will have one month to agree to the code or they will be dropped. This should happen by December. Copies of the final Code are ready to be picked up. CHANGE needs to get in touch with the committee members who worked on the code to find out what the deal is with including FLA in the code, as WRC was the only one that was initially a part of the code. Mike has a member's testimony supporting this, and Megan will get ahold of the original draft of the CoC.

-Karen Cunningham's Non-Violence class-- Karen wants speakers from CHANGE to come talk to her class about the negotians with Watson last year.

-GROW in Chicago--The date for GROW has been changed to Nov. 16-18, the same weekend as SOA. They need to know who will be attending the workshop weekend ASAP. Housing will be provided for free. (Julie G. might be attending.)

Meeting was adjourned for the speaker from Jobs With Justice.
