Some Leasing Key Points...

During your lease..

Do not renegotiate on the agreement of your lease unless you receive documentation in writing from your landlord or a court order.

Always try to deliver your monthly payment in person and be sure you get a receipt. This guarantees that your landlord receives your payments.

Submit any request for repairs and damages to your landlord in writing. This will allow you to keep track of your request and the anticipated times the repairs are completed.

Hold your landlord to all promises and agreements. If your request is not met in a reasonable period, contact your property manger.

Do not take the law into your own hands. If you think your landlord has discriminated against you, violated you or your rights in any way contact the housing authorities.

After Your Lease Expires…

Be sure you inquire about the date you will receive your security deposit and make sure the landlord knows where to mail check.

Check the unit thoroughly to see if you have all of your possessions.

Clean all cabinets, drawers, floors, walls, and carpet in the unit.

Inform the landlord in writing of all damages in the unit.
