Since 1976, Habitat for Humanity International has built more than 100,000 houses in more than 60 countries, which includes some 30,000 houses across the United States. Habitat houses are purchased by the homeowners, or Partner Families, through a no-profit, no-interest mortgage. Families are chosen according to their need, their ability to repay the mortgage and their willingness to work with Habitat for Humanity.

Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit, charitable campus organization that is dedicated to eliminating substandard housing not only throughout the local area but also the world.

Kent State's Habitat for Humanity began in 1994 because students became concerned with the substandard housing problem worldwide, and they wanted to make a difference - even if it was just in their own backyard. Throughout the years, students have worked in conjunction with Habitat for Humanity of Portage County to help deserving families achieve their dream of owning their own house.

Meetings are held every Tuesday at 8:30 p.m.
in Room 302 of the Student Center
