Some residence halls provide boxes where students can recycle toner cartridges. If off campus, check out local copy and printer places and ask about cartridge recycling.

    4. If you love tuna fish, make sure you’re eating tuna fish that guarantees the safety of dolphins. You wouldn’t want to be responsible for the death of a flipper would you?

    5. Carpool. Gas prices are still high and it will save your wallet and the environment to work together to save fume pollution.

    6. Even though wild animals are cute and fuzzy, don’t feed them. By feeding the wild animals, they’ll become reliant on humans for food. In addition to losing ability to hunt down their food, the animals will starve to death whenever humans aren’t around to feed them.

    7. Whenever cleaning out the apartment or dorm room instead of throwing clothing, furniture or other appliances away donate them to places like Goodwill or Salvation Army.

    8. When buying all those school supplies, buy the ones with recycled contents.

    9. Re-use plastic cutlery, aluminum foil, pie tins and glassware. This will cut down on waste.

    10. Even though animal furs or ivory might make a great fashion statement, the animals aren’t huge fans of it. Fake furs or ivory can be used instead. They still look real and are less expensive.

    21. Vote! Every American has the opportunity to have a say in how the country is run but many do not. Take advantage of the opportunity and vote - register to vote

    22. Read. Read anything and everything. Reading can not only make you more knowledgeable but can be fun.

    24. Really listen during the next conversation held. Instead of thinking about what you are going to say next, pay attention to what the person is really saying and might need.

    25. Be a kid again and with a friend play on the swings, make a snowman or jump on the bed . Forget worries for one day and just relax and have fun.

    31. Turn off your computer at night. More electricity is used when the computer is left on all night.

    32. Volunteer or get involved in an organization. By helping out just a few hours a week one can impact many people’s lives. Check online for volunteer opportunities. There are tons of opportunities out there.

    33. When looking for a car, buy a hybrid car. They get more gas mileage and cut down on pollution.

    34. Save gift wrap during the holiday season and use it again. Even be creative and use old calendars or newspapers to wrap the gifts.

    35. Use the power of the purse. What you buy and how much you buy does impact the market.

    36. Chew with your mouth closed. No one appreciates seeing your chewed up food.

    37. Re-charge batteries. Metals contained in batteries are a huge contamination problem for dump sites. Or contact Portage County recycling center to recycle them.

    38. Discuss important issues like diversity and prejudice with friends. Sharing opinions can help educate someone and alter their world view or just open someone up to new ideas.

    39. Don’t waste your money by skipping class. It is tempting to sleep in and ignore that history class, but for every skipped class money is wasted. Money, which if you aren’t going to use, could be used to help educate someone who would take advantage of education.

    40. Put on a car wash to raise money for a charity. Washing cars can be fun, plus from you won’t have to answer questions in class from screaming your lungs out publicizing the car wash.

    41.Put the toilet seat down after done using it. It might be humorous to laugh at the next female who doesn’t realize it wasn’t down, but it’ll save you a lot of nagging.

    42. Travel. Explore the world around you and learn about other cultures first hand. You’ll could have experiences that you will never forget and meet people that could change your life.

    45. Don’t take a cell phone call during another conversation. That’s just rude.
