A Day at Beckwith's Orchards

Photos by Katie Roupe

A short drive from Kent State, Beckwith's Orchards is an excellent place to enjoy the outdoors.

With many acres of apple orchards, the Beckwith family continues a long tradition by selling their delicious apples, apple cider and pies.

Elementary school field trips are popular at the orchards where students can learn about how apples are grown and the history of the orchards.

One of the students' favorite parts of the tour was a big hill that encouraged the children to roll down. With squeals and laughter, around twenty kids took turns rolling down the hill.

Mrs. Appleseed points out that when an apple is cut in half there is a star shape around the core.

Beckwith has been running since 1878 and is located in Portage County.

With a gift shop and beautiful grounds, Beckwith's Orchards is a great place to learn, explore and support the local community.
