The University Teaching Council exists to support and encourage outstanding teaching. The Teaching Conference Grant (TCG) provides reimbursement for travel and related expenses associated with efforts to advance teaching pedagogy at Kent State University. This includes, but is not limited to, participation in conferences either as an attendee or presenter, attendance at workshops and seminars related to teaching, and visiting archives and collections that are tied to courses.
The University Teaching Council will award Teaching Conference Grants up to a maximum of $500. for domestic travel and $800. for international travel.
Conferences
The University Teaching Council supports faculty travel to conferences which serve as the forum for scholarly communication about teaching. Awards may also support conference-related expenses and publication charges.
Workshops and Seminars
The University Teaching Council provides support for travel to specialized workshops and seminars where advances in pedagogy and disciplines are being presented and discussed. The University Teaching Council emphasizes advances with specific relevance to the teaching mission of Kent State University.
Materials
The University Teaching Council provides support for acquiring teaching materials that go beyond the infrastructure categories under Teaching Development Awards. These activities include visiting archives and collections or traveling to significant geographical sites that are tied to courses. Awards may support travel expenses and/or costs related to materials acquisition.
Eligibility
All full-time and part-time faculty members at any of the eight Kent State University campuses are eligible for a Teaching Conference Grant. Faculty may only receive one award per year. Funds will be awarded to those activities which have a clear connection to the advancement of learning and educational excellence at Kent State University.
Grant Recipients
Grant recipients are expected to make a presentation at the annual University Teaching Council Conference in the fall

You can apply by downloading and completing the Teaching Conference Grant Form, and submitting the completed form as an email attachment to Anne Morrison at amorriso@kent.edu. TCG applications should be submitted at least 30 days prior to travel. The UTC Committee should decide on the application within one month.
