Mr. DuVall is a television executive and veteran writer who is also co-author of the series companion
book. For 16 years he has helped develop, market, executive-produce, and promote non-fiction
television programming, with past clients including the Turner Broadcasting System, The Learning
Channel, KCET/Los Angeles, the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, The Christian Science Monitor,and over 30 other commercial television and non-profit organizations. Mr. DuVall was also vice
president for program resources of WETA, Washington, D.C. and previously was director of
corporate relations of the University of Chicago, the director of public affairs for several national
business trade associations, and a counterintelligence officer in the U.S. Air Force. His writing
includes speeches for presidential candidates in four national campaigns and poems and articles that
have appeared in literary journals and major newspapers.
