Ted Lewin
Ted Lewin has illustrated over one hundred books
for children and young adults, including his own Tiger Trek, When the
Rivers Go Home, and Amazon Boy. An avid traveler and environmentalist,
Mr. Lewin often relies on his trips to such places as the Amazon River,
Lapland, Botswana, and the Pribilof Islands in the Bering Sea for graphic
and literary material. Market!, a book he wrote and illustrated,
showcases markets around the world, from Uganda to Ireland to Ecuador to
New York City.
Mr. Lewin received a Caldecott honor for illustrating
Elisa Bartone's Peppe the Lamplighter, and his I Was a Teenage
Wrestler, a memoir describing his experiences during a fifteen-year,
part-time career, was selected a Booklist Editors' Choice and a
School Library Journal Best Book of 1993. Market! was
also chosen one of the ten best illustrated children's books of 1996 by
The New York Times Book Review. Mr. Lewin lives in Brooklyn, New
York, with his wife, Betsy, who also illustrates children's books.
Ted Lewin was a featured panel speaker at the
