2009 High School Poetry Competition

1st Place - One $4,000 per year Scholarship (total 4 year value $16,000)

2nd Place - One $3,000 per year Scholarship (total 4 year value $12,000)

3rd Place - One $1,500 per year Scholarship (total 4 year value $6,000)

1. The competition is open to any senior (class of 2009) currently enrolled in an Ohio high school.
2. The scholarship awards are to Kent State University only. 
3. All entries must be original and unpublished.
4. Each entrant may submit one (1) poem only, typed on 8 ½ x 11 paper.  Four (4) copies of the poem should be sent.  Only clear copies are acceptable.
5. The poem should be no more than 100 lines long.
6. The poet’s name should not appear on the poem.
7. A cover sheet should be included that lists the poet’s name, address, email and telephone number, as well as the name, address, and signature of the guidance counselor or sponsoring teacher, the name of the high school the student is attending, and the title of the poem submitted.  Entries missing any of this required information will not be accepted and will be returned to the poet.
8. All entries will be recycled after the winner has been chosen.
9. Entries must be postmarked between December 1, 2008 and February 1, 2009.  Early or late entries will not be accepted.
